Thanks for checking this out. I don't know how familiar you are with the symphonic rock scene in Europe, but it's huge. WT are one of the bands at the top of the heap, but I've written about several others in my posts on Rock Meets Opera https://zapatosjam.substack.com/p/greatest-voices-3-rock-meets-opera-20-10-06, Rock Collides with Classical https://zapatosjam.substack.com/p/rock-3-when-rock-collides-with-classical-20-09-12 and several posts on perhaps the greatest symphonic rock vocalist, Floor Jansen.

Electric Callboy have been around for over 10 years, believe it or not. Sort of a cult following in Europe, just getting exposure here thanks to reviewers like Elizabeth. (I haven't seen her reviews of them so I'll have to check them out--but they are already hilarious so I can imagine how she must have reacted to them.

Late to reading this -- but I'm thrilled to discover a new band (to me) and even more, I watch Elizabeth Zharoff's videos religiously but missed this one! And I found out that she dissected one of my favorite band discoveries of 2022 earlier this year, Electric Callboy, not once but twice! And she was in hilarious form on both.

I only started reading the blogs after Band Maid were featured. Interesting that another band I have DVDs and CDs of should turn up. Within Temptation are sometimes overlooked and yet as the complete rock band there are few that come close. Plus, like Band Maid, they have been going for some time and always keep the music fresh.

Hi Russell. I get the clear sense that there is a lot of overlap between the fan base for Symphonic rock and the fan base for the Japanese metal bands. Part of it may be the "divine feminine" energy of these bands, but a big part of it for me, having grown up with classical music, is the emphasis on great composition and musical virtuosity. Thanks for checking this out!
