The Joni and Judy versions are so different, it is hard to compare them. Joni's is so stripped down and raw that it really hits deep. Judy's version is also great, but very different. it's very produced, with more of a pop feeling (yes, i am that old to remember when pop sounded like that).
i really love Elvis' version of it, but for dark, i think i would like to see what Chris Cornell would have done with the Hawaiian Wedding Song. This version is good, but not better than the original. Elvis' voice was simple and strong in the original - i like it because it is in the middle of my range, so i can sing it .
Henk Poort was spot on. Emma Heesters was ok. She got a bit nasally in the performance and is not up to Henk's quality. if i am a bit jaded on this, it might be the distraction of the strange humans sitting on the couch with their mouths open, with the dumbest expressions I've seen in quite a while.
Well, the point with Henk and Emma was Henk. Bocelli did this with a dozen female partners, and in the end the quality is judged by his performance. The people on the couch are other recording artists. They were all taking turns singing for each other, but Henk (and Floor) blew the rest of them away.
Re. Joni, I just don't like her singing voice. Judy's pure, poppy sound is such a jarring contrast with the lyrics, that is what makes it for me. thanks for watching!
you bring up a good point about Judy's voice. I would love to hear her sing it without all of the production. I think it would outstanding with Joni's arrangement and instrumentation. oh well
1) I had never heard the original Both Sides Now, and I thought the Judy Collins version was awful...until I heard the Joni Mitchell version, which was terrible AND awful. If I've gotta pick one, definitely Judy.
2) Can't Help Falling in Love Dark Version is pure genius!
3) I also had not heard Andre singing Vivo per Lei, but after checking it out, I'm with you on this one--Henk & Emma brought down the house.

Engaging post! Here's my take:
