When instrumentals have the capacity to move the emotions it is almost an out of body experience. I found Asterism have some wonderful multi emotional instrumentals. Dare I say Band Maid when they venture into playing instrumentals it just blows the mind. as well.
Thanks Russell, agreed! As you'll recall, two of my three nominations for 2022 instrumentals of the year were by Band-Maid and Asterism. Seeing Band-Maid do "From Now On" live was, indeed, and out-of body experience.
There’s something about two guitarists sharing lead solos that really reaches deep into me. It reminds me of the 80s metal I grew up with. But also bands like The Allman Brothers and The Outlaws, southern rock.
Steve, I absolutely agree. Allman Bros with Allman and Betts were my gold standard for guitar duos--and Allman/Clapton were high up there as well. Unlike you, many of my metalhead acquaintances have never heard of Allman. Now that instrumental virtuosity has gone out of fashion here, the torch is being carried largely by the Japanese--I've heard dozens of bands with dual guitar leads, though of course they vary a lot in quality. Thanks as always for stopping by. BTW I got your emails, and that's great, we are on for the Maids and I'll decide on Haken shortly--I've been on the road, just left Dubai today....fly to the US tomorrow!

Same, Steve. Excellent sound, and great playing!
