Just watched a great video by Mary Spender which documents her solo production of her own music video. It;s quite amazing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpLBjF0P6Dw And here is her interesting take on the trend of major artists going independent. There is hope. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LP1na4h5srk&t=353s

I too hope she stays independent. She actually tried out for AGT a few years ago and didn't make it. That may have been one of the best things that happened for her career. I think YouTube has made it possible for musicians like Karolina to "make it" just by generating enough views. She could also tour like the 2 cellos. Maybe collaborate with them? There is a funny video of her Dad surprising her with tickets to see the 2 cellos in Las Vegas -- one of her favorite musical ensembles. Interestingly, she isn't touring yet, and yet she has more subscribers than they do. She is tremendously talented when it comes to playing with others. She started collaborating remotely with Italian sax sensation Daniele Vitale during COVID and later they met and performed in person. The combo of sax and violin is beautiful when played by these two. See the videos.

Unfortunately the 2 Cellos broke up and are doing their own thing now. Hauser is the bigger success and is back to focusing on classical music.

Would be great if Hauser and Karolina played together.

What a great find she is! While she'd be a shoo-in to grow up and play in a symphony orchestra for a career, her performing talents and shining personality would be sadly swallowed up by the staid ork conventions. Here's hoping she can find a lane to fully explore the wonders of her talents, even if it "only" is the 'net! Thanks for your (and Arun's) enlightening post!

Thanks Brad. I think the best hope for her is to stay outside the music establishment if at all possible. Especially in the U.S. They would likely flatten everything that makes her unique. Thankfully, she has the fanbase to give her some freedom to make her own choices.

Good points. Now's the time we can lament the non-existence of the variety TV shows of the '60s and '70s to showcase her talents! She could, ostensibly, pull a show together (a kind of live variety show with musicians, comedians, etc) with management help, and maybe get booked into clubs, or Vegas and/or Atlantic City showrooms. Time will, as it always does, tell!

I wonder if a SNL appearance would have the same impact it did for the B52's way back when. They really blew up after that.

Well, the B52s had major label backing (Warner Bros., having released their debut 6 mos before their late Jan '80 SNL appearance) to help propel the resultant buzz. Plus, I doubt Lorne would put somebody on who wasn't already represented by SOME major entity....label, ork, etc.

He wouldn't want to set the precedent of putting on someone "just off the street," regardless of how many millions of subscribers they might have on YT! But, generally, that would be a great venue, if she can get it....SNL's the only thing, really (besides the late-nite talk shows nobody watches anymore) that we have left!

Then, there are the afternoon talk shows for the ladies: Tamron, Kelly, etc, but again, she probably has more eyes on her YT vids than are usually attracted to those shows.
