Looking forward to Sunday and thanks for sharing these incredible artists and songs. I really love you have Alien Weaponry as the lead off here. I'm familiar with them since they are on Napalm Records, which a former students of mine's band - Aether Realm - is also a Napalm Records artist, so I have seen Alien Weaponry on the Napalm line up and checked them out. Friends in Sweden turned me on to Anna von Hausswolff last year but the remaining artists are all new to me so it was terrific going through your playlist.
I hope a bunch of new folks come to join in this always enlightening discussion! If my signal is strong enough on the road I'll join as a lurker, but if not, have a fantastic gathering and I'll send you my thoughts via email....
Incredibly gorgeous and memorable choices, Charles. My very favourite is of course, Meesha Shafi. She is just so mesmerizing. Aurora is amazingly talented and a powerful performance with a depth behind her music. Loved her as well. Anne Von Hausswolff is so original and the song you picked was beautiful. How can we not find Birder from Japan versatile and riveting? A range of talented artists that is unbelievable. I also enjoyed OUM from Morocco - just stunning in every aspect - and her videos are so warm and inviting. I sent it to my friend who is going to be living in Morocco now. Air Diab from Egypt - wow! Lovely voice, soothing to listen to, and I want to know more about him. All of these are my picks and thanks for sharing once again!
Well, it certainly worked for me. I’ve already bought the only album by Meesha. I’m very drawn to her sound and her voice. Again, so many beautiful world voices. Loved OUM as well.
Thanks for taking the time! Not planned, but there ended up being several songs that use the “middle eastern” scales, which gives them a completely different emotional impact from songs in western scales.

Looks fantastic. Hope to be able to join.
Your perspective would add a lot to the discussion!
Thanks for saying that, would certainly enjoy hearing the discussion. Depends on schedules but hopefully it works out.
Even if you can't make it, I'd love to know if you find any personal gems in the mix.
