This is an important piece, Charles. I appreciate all the research that clearly went into it. Much of it was news to me and I follow the industry fairly closely. As if I needed any more reasons to hate this country.
Thanks Steve. I haven't gotten quite to the point of hating us, but I do feel we are cheating ourselves. But then, as you know, I'm more committed to the music scene off our shores than most folks here. Maybe I should just be content with what we have here.....? Nah! Did you play the Gat brothers clip? They are a trip!
Yeah - hate was too strong a word but my rage was blinding me to any others at the moment…I still haven’t found a better one — fear? disappointment? Probably needs a lot more than one word.
For me it's a classic love-hate relationship! I can get so angry and disappointed, but there is also a lot to celebrate. For us music fanatics, the U.S. birthed so much innovation (jazz, blues, bluegrass, rock...) But then we turned our backs on it. In my field (medical technology) most of the key breakthroughs in our lifetimes were invented by immigrants, yet half the people here want to shut the doors. Talk about killing the goose...It's insane, and self-destructive.
